Oyster Restoration Partners

The Horn Point Oyster Hatchery is a focal point for oyster restoration and research in Maryland. Production of oyster spat, oyster planting, and monitoring of those oyster spat has become possible through the formation of partnerships with the Oyster Recovery Partnership, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Waterman’s Association, NOAA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and others. These oyster restoration partnerships have been instrumental in advancing our understanding of how to best restore the Chesapeake Bay oyster population and in providing increased funding for oyster restoration projects. By working cooperatively we are best able to evaluate and apply innovative approaches to oyster restoration.

Oyster Recovery Partnership

The Oyster Recovery Partnership is committed to oyster restoration, the health of the Chesapeake Bay, and the preservation of our future. They actively support and promote oyster restoration for economic and ecologic purposes.
